I like the blooper reel on movies. Seeing Jackie Chan get stuck in a betting window or flub a line seven times doesn’t make me think less of him as an actor, it makes me think how amazing it is that he can do what he does at all.

Similarly, me seeing a car I like spin out in a track test, or a Koenigsegg experience engine problems just humanizes the experience for me! It’s comforting to know even the billionaires of the world sometimes turn the key and get that dreaded starter whirr.

Ironically: running has NEVER been my Corvair’s problem. It has pretty much always ran well. Keeping fluids in? It has leaked literally every fluid at least once. Including gasoline and brakes.

Having owned Volvos for decades, I know what it feels like to have the finest of Swedish engineering fail under you. Granted Koenigsegg’s first engine was a modified Ford unit, and most of our Volvo problems occurred in the Ford-era cars, so we can probably blame everything on the Blue Oval as always.

It’s flooding, maybe they are not driving it correctly?

Well no shit, what does he think free-revving the engine at a standstill is going to do for it?
